You don't really have to know a friend from their birth or childhood, to know that, he /she is a gift to this world and going places, and that you hope to ride along with them as long as possible... That's the power of meaningful friendship and that's what exactly holds me and Alert together!! So a very very happy birthday Alert! Miles to go !! :)

ALERT is a not for profit, non-government organization that focuses on the wellness of the society and has taken Golden Hour Care and Emergency Response Management as its core initiative.

Let us break down the jargons a little, Alert basically creates awareness and trains people on first aid and emergency response. It trains 'common men' and empower us to save lives!
How powerful would it feel to know that you can Actually save lives, without being doctors?
To find that out.. Get trained and Act in need! I could go on and on about how significant it is, but then one has to experience a few things in life and this is one such.. Moreover this is my birthday wish to Alert and not a promo material!
Back to the story of my connection with Alert, like most relationships we got in touch through mutual friends.. One of my colleague couldn't stop about his memories in Alert and how he wishes to go back, and another college friend of mine kept on rambling about it too.. And honestly that was the point of time, when I was looking for an NGO to volunteer for two major very selfish reasons : 1) I wanted to get de-addicted from my TV series routine 2) This way of 'hanging out' will look cool on my resume! So my curiosity and sefishness got the better of me, and I insisted my colleague to take me to Alert office..As luck would have it, we met with Kala and Rajesh (The Founders!! Yeah!!). And believe me I was not super excited about Alert before, due to my inherent inhibitions towards anything related to 'Biology' (I totally sucked at it!). But then when you hear it from Kala and Rajesh, about their cause, with passion oozing along with every word, it will get to you! But what really struck a chord with me, was the type of people they were! I can give a set of adjectives and superlatives to describe them.. but I don't think that will do justice.. Moreover you will only know what I mean, when you actually meet them (I really hope that you get that opportunity, very soon.. or someday!) I truly believe that any organisation is as good as it's people.. In that way, in the very first day I knew then that my time wouldn't be wasted if I work along with them.. And as an exception to my usual self, I was absolutely right this time!
Alert has been a constant companion from that day and I have a feeling it will last long and strong! :)
The usefulness of the training (Knowledge is Power!), the great, funny (mostly kalaai) moments with the vibrant team there, my reason to jump out of the bed on Sunday mornings (trust me , I am / was THE Sleepy head!) and the feeling of being part of something greater than oneself, can never be put to words! The very fact that, I am writing my very first birthday note, to an intangible friend of mine should get the point across, I guess!
BTW : A happy b'day pic ! (I know the pic says it all! That's why posting it at last! ;) )
Happiness multiples when it's shared and as I would really like my happiness to be multiplied (so selfish of me!! I Know right?! :P), I would like you to get a chance to experience the joy of being an Alert-being! Join us @ OMR for the Awareness run - ALERT-A-THON, on October 9, for a refreshing Sunday start (Oh Did I forget to mention that Amy Jackson will flag off the run & Free JIO SIM are additional perks?! Oops!) and take the first step towards Being Alert! So what are you waiting for?? Gear up to save lives!!
